Re-discover your surroundings : The TV and comfortable sofa suck too many people into a false version of reality. We are not meant to be living in a world where we do not know what it is like when it gets naturally dark. We need to experience the sun going down and rising. Spending too many of our days in a brick house with artificial light is not good for the human experience. Once one discovers that we are part of nature and part of a naturally intelligent, self-organizing universe, we can then enjoy our journey here on earth in a more peaceful and conscious way.
Meditate : No matter how busy your life is, set aside some time during the day to meditate. The universe and our own selves are always sending us messages of guidance, so take time to sit down and listen. When thoughts arise, simply view them as thoughts and not as a negative or a positive thought, this way we can listen without attaching any emotions to it. We can also combine meditation with re-discovering nature, as meditating outside can also help bring us back into line with nature and help us with our emotions. This can be particularly good for people who suffer from depression.
Always Listen to Others : Many people today engage with others by talking in a one way conversation without listening. Listening to what others have to say by being present and attentive to their words can really help us understand more about the other person and ourselves.
Gratitude : When we go about our lives in a state of gratitude and appreciation of others in our lives we will be living more consciously. Always make a point of expressing your gratitude and this will make your daily experience a more joyful one.
