Natural Flea Repellent

They say that dogs are man's best friend, however, the summer weather can also mean that other unwelcome guests can show up. The common flea can be a problem for families with pets in the summer, and if this problem is left untreated it can effect everyone in the household and beyond.

I have heard many stories of flea problems being left untreated, they can then get into bedroom carpets where they are almost impossible to get out. Fleas can also get into children's bed clothes and can then bite the children during the night.

Flea populations rise dramatically during the summer months. This is due to the warm weather creating the perfect condition for fleas to breed and multiply. Another reason is that our dogs and cats spend more time outside in the summer and that means there is a higher risk of your pet coming into contact with another flea infected animal.

Many people make the mistake of waiting until their pet in infested with fleas before taking action, and this can sometimes be too late, especially if the fleas have started nesting in your home. The best solution for fleas is to keep them away and prevent them nesting on your animal in the first place.

People who leave it late will take the option of mainstream, chemical flea killer to sort out the problem. However, this can damage the health of your pet and others in the household. Chemical flea killer in some cases can be sprayed, and so breathing those chemicals in can cause untold health problems for you and your pet. Anything that is put on the animal's skin goes straight  into their blood stream. If the packet tells you to avoid consumption, then it is also advisable to avoid placing on your animal's skin.

Fleas do not like Tea Tree Oil and they will not hang around if you apply this to your pet. If your dog meets another dog with fleas, you can be sure that the fleas will stay away from your scented pet.

Tea Tree is a very powerful and natural antiseptic, so it must be watered down. A few drops in a spray bottle will last a long time and can be applied to your pet once a week to keep fleas away.

Tea tree oil can also be sprayed on your furniture and around the household. It will leave a natural fresh smell around your home and it is also very cost effective. You can also live happily in the knowledge that fleas will stay from your pets and your household.
